Our Mission

In October 2020, with support from the European Union, Trócaire Sierra Leone established the Agricultural Knowledge and Information System (AKIS) Aid in collaboration with its implementing partners, ReCentDST Ltd and Orange Sierra Leone. This information mechanism collects, processes, and disseminates vital agricultural market information to farmers, traders, processors, and others interested in agricultural commodities.

What We Do

AKIS Aid is a Management Information System that records, stores, disseminates, and analyzes data on extension services for rural women farmers. With just a mobile phone, users can access essential information like weather updates, market prices, and agricultural best practices, helping to enhance their bargaining power and decision-making capabilities.

The AKIS Aid Solution includes a USSD Application, SurveyCTO Collect, and a Dashboard application. Enumerators collect relevant market data, which is uploaded to our server. Users can access this information for free via mobile, enhancing their access to agricultural resources and information.
